Our Story

What started as a solution to a personal problem became a mission to help others achieve water independence.

Simple Pump Co. was founded in 1999 to solve a common rural problem: keeping reliable access to well water when the power goes out. The Simple Pump system pairs the dependability of a manual pump with the option of motorized operation, all in one modular design.

Steve Schmid took over as owner and operator in 2018, bringing more than 20 years of well pump experience to the company. Under his direction, Simple Pump designed the Inline Dual-Pump Valve Assembly, which lets a WORKHORSE solar submersible and a Simple Pump hand pump share a single well.

Today, well owners across the country rely on Simple Pump systems for their water security. From emergency backup to primary water in off-grid locations, our pumps are built to provide dependable service year after year.
