Simple Pump: 12v DC electric motorized pump with solar.

Unique advantages. Dramatically more effecient and economical.

Simple Pump is power-efficient, and ideal for running on solar.

The recommended configuration for a household includes batteries. Advantages are:

  • The pump is not limited to sunlight periods of the day, for operation.
  • Stored power allows operation over multiple days, when sunlight is less than ideal.
  • Batteries easily absorb the current spike that happens on the work part of the pumping cycle.

For uses such as irrigation, and rangeland, a direct from panel to motor system offers a the more cost-effective and lower maintenance way to go.

Buy Solar - Now or Later

Around 2006, the universal sentiment amongst those interested in buying solar configurations, particularly for residential applications, was:
"Wait until this supposed huge new factory starts operating before you buy. Prices will get a lot lower after that."

Why Simple Pump is DRAMATICALLY more economical than the competition

There are two ways to pump your water - quickly with high power consumption, or over a longer time with low power consumption.

The reason that we're so much more efficient is that no-one in the mainstream pumps industry has sat down and thought about creating a high-efficiency, lower-volume solution. They are all higher-throughput, higher-power-consumption pumps.

Simple Pump’s 105ME/GM 12-volt DC, 60 rpm, 1/5 hp bolt-on Motor Extension is built to adapt the amount of power it draws --- the gear ratio can be adjusted to work at greater depth, holding power consumption constant.

No one else offers this feature. Typical solar configurations hold the pump's power demand constant, requiring the customer to keep adding panels until power needs are satisfied, rather than optimizing the pump to minimize the output for the solar panels.

Submersible Pumps and Solar

When people say "well pump", they almost always mean (and just assume) the usual "submersible well pump". The reason for our much higher efficiency is that we're not using the same sort of technology. Even a relatively low-volume submersible pump generates much higher volume per minute than a Simple Pump 12-volt DC Motor Extension. But a single household does not require the volumes that they produce. Almost all households, no matter the type of pump, include at least a 50-gallon pressure tank that, in turn, supplies the domestic water system. With just this modest buffer, Simple Pump saves our customers thousands of dollars in solar panel costs.

We have spoken with several people about this - people who were in process of scouting around for a solar-driven pump. All gave us similar figures about what they were finding, elsewhere. For example, one person told us the figure another company had quoted him — $12,000! This for what was defined as a "low-power-draw" submersible --- It required SIX 200-watt panels, MUCH more than the requirement of a Simple Pump.

Other Low-Demand Pump Solutions and Solar

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THIS

Yes, there are other hand-pumps - (superficially in the same function ballpark as a Simple Pump, although more expensive and not manufactured to the same quality). But none of them has an equivalent motorized pump.

And none of them has an equivalent handpump-to-motorized upgrade path. The computer-driven machining of a Simple Pump ensures a consistent EXACT fit between pump head and motor. You can (in minutes) upgrade a hand pump to the motor, and be assured of a precise fit, even years in the future.

There is simply nothing equivalent to the solar-driven, motorized Simple Pump --- whether you go straight to solar now, or want to upgrade your hand-pump in the future.

Ultimate Water Security

You're cut off in the winter. Maybe for a few days. Maybe longer. A storm drops a branch through your solar panel. NO PROBLEM. You take out your Simple Pump lever-arm. Five to ten minutes later (literally!), the motor is off, the lever-arm is on, and you're pumping water.
