Simple Pump™ in Developing Nations

How Simple Pump™ Gives Rural Communities a Low-Cost, Self-Sustaining Water Supply

Simple Pump hand pump on a well in Africa.Simple Pump can improve the health and economy of these rural areas. Simple Pump is a lever arm water pump that makes clean water easily available.

The best part is, Simple Pump is affordable - it only costs a fraction of other comparable manual water pumps. And thanks to its extremely durable design, Simple Pump™ works reliably in any climate... for generations.

No Special tools Or skills Required to Install

We make sure we have thought of everything so that installation does not require special skills or tools. For example, some hand pump vendors require their customers to drill their own weep hole; we do it for you.

A weep hole located about four feet below the pump head allows the water at the very top to drain out of the pump head. It is required for most outdoor wells. In Winter, water left in the head can freeze, damaging the pump. In Summer, water left in the head can be as much as 130º F.

Our customers who have installed the Simple Pump in remote locations like Africa have been happy with its ease of installation. (Read this client story.)

How to save money for pumps shipped overseas

Simple Pump only costs a fraction of comparable manual water pumps.

And shipping costs can be reduced in two ways:

  • You can obtain the required PVC drop pipe locally.
  • Or we will reduce freight charges by shipping with 54” piping, instead of the domestic standard of 108”. On FedEx, freight charges are three times higher when that package is oversized. However, the decreased shipping must be balanced against increased product costs, because two 54” sucker rods cost more than one 9’ sucker rod.

We will help you figure out the best way to do your shipping.

Low Long-Term Cost

After purchase - for maintenance that costs only $25 once every five years - a rural community can get a boost in health conditions and an economic lift.

This makes Simple Pump™ an ideal solution for communities in developing nations.
